On April 2nd we will travel to Lacey’s Spring to visit Manna House’s Hydroponic Garden. Come and see where 5–10 acres of lettuce (21,000 heads) can be grown in one room! We will be given planting/harvesting instructions and put on a disposable gown, shoe covering, etc. before we plant or harvest lettuce. Then we will proceed to the Harvest Room and Water Supply Room before entering the gardens. There is the opportunity for us to harvest or plant lettuce seeds for about one hour. Simple instructions will be provided. If harvest is ample, you may get a head of ‘Summer Crisp’ lettuce to take home! Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. After harvesting or planting we will leave the Gardens around 11:00 AM and proceed to Logan’s for lunch at 11:30 AM. Phil and Kleone Nelson are the coordinators for this trip.
